On the night of the final Fogli performed 5th in the running order, following Sweden and preceding Turkey. The song was an uptempo Mediterranean-flavoured offering with an accordion featuring prominently in the arrangement, and received an enthusiastic response from the audience but a lesser one from the national juries. At the close of voting « Per Lucia » had picked up 41 points (the highest an 8 from Yugoslavia), placing Italy 11th of the 20 entries. The Italian jury awarded its 12 points to contest winners Luxembourg.[1]
